In critical apron project in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, we successfully deployed the YFFY-HPI-316L embedded helipad lights.
As a crucial component in safeguarding flight safety, this airport light not only perfectly adapts to the extreme local climate conditions but also sets a benchmark for apron lighting due to its robust quality.
This article will analyze the features, advantages, and installation specifications of embedded apron lights in depth, combining the Saudi installation case with the product’s core technical parameters.
Why Choose the YFFY-HPI-316L Embedded Helipad Lights?
In the flight support system, the apron lighting system acts as a beacon guiding pilots to safe takeoffs and landings.
Especially in a unique environment like Jeddah, Saudi Arabia—with extreme sunlight, frequent sandstorms, and drastic temperature differences—the requirements for apron lighting fixtures are extremely stringent, and ordinary lighting equipment often struggles to operate stably for extended periods.
The YFFY-HPI-316L successfully passed field tests thanks to the following four core features:
1. Unfazed by Wind, Sand & Scorching Sun
Upgraded Materials: The main body is made of 316 stainless steel using gravity casting (some components are made of high-strength aluminum alloy with powder coating).
Compared to ordinary 304 stainless steel or aluminum, 316 material has stronger corrosion resistance and resistance to chloride ion erosion, perfectly handling high humidity or high salt spray environments.
Optical Protection: The helipad light is equipped with a PC/tempered glass lampshade, which has extremely high impact resistance, effectively resisting wind and sand abrasion and foreign object impacts, ensuring that light transmittance does not decrease under harsh weather conditions.
2. Long Lifespan and Low Power Consumption
Imported Chips: Built-in high-quality LED light source, using imported chip packaging, resulting in high luminous efficiency and low attenuation.
Ultra-Long Lifespan: Designed for a lifespan of ≥20 years, significantly reducing later maintenance costs and replacement frequency.
Low Energy Consumption: Average power consumption ≤10W, providing ≥55cd luminous intensity while significantly saving energy.
3. Waterproof & Shockproof Dual Protection
IP68 Protection Rating: The fully sealed structure design not only provides complete dustproof protection but also allows for long-term immersion in water, unaffected by torrential rain.
Shock and Vibration Resistance: Lightweight design with high strength; internal circuitry is shockproofed to withstand the strong vibrations from helicopter takeoffs and landings and local geological conditions.
Efficient Heat Dissipation: The 316 stainless steel housing possesses excellent thermal conductivity, combined with an internal heat dissipation design, ensuring controllable LED junction temperature and preventing light decay even in the high-temperature environment of Saudi Arabia.
4. Lightning and Surge Protection:
The built-in professional surge protection device of the helipad lighting effectively resists lightning strikes and power grid fluctuations, ensuring reliable operation even in severe weather conditions with frequent thunderstorms, guaranteeing the continuity of flight operations.

Key Requirements and Specifications for Recessed Lighting Installation
The installation quality of recessed helipad warning lights directly affects flight safety and the lifespan of airport lighting.
Based on the successful application experience of this embedded helipad lights in the Saudi Jetta project and its own technical specifications, the installation process must adhere to the following standards:
1. Pre-embedding Accuracy: Dimensions must be “millimeter-level”
- Precise Pit Cutting: According to product specifications (e.g., YFFY-HPI-316L), the diameter of the pre-embedded pit must be accurate to Φ183mm, and the depth 72mm, ensuring the lamp is securely embedded.
- Flush Installation: The upper surface of the embedded helipad lights body must be completely flush with the apron deck, with a horizontal error controlled to the millimeter level, eliminating any protrusions or depressions to ensure aircraft taxiing safety.
2. Electrical Connection: Strictly Prevent Two Major Risks
- Voltage Matching: Always verify the voltage! It is strictly forbidden to connect AC220V power to DC48V lamps, otherwise the equipment will be instantly burned out.
- Waterproof Sealing: All cable interfaces must be treated with waterproof junction boxes and sealant for double waterproofing to prevent groundwater intrusion and short circuits.
- Reliable Grounding: Ensure proper grounding to activate the built-in surge protector and protect against lightning strike damage.
3. Tightening & Testing: Ensuring Shock Resistance and Stability
- Anti-loosening Tightening: Tighten the fixing screws to standard using a torque wrench, and install spring washers to resist the strong airflow vibrations during helicopter takeoff and landing.
- Power-on Test: Immediately after installation, check the light color, brightness, and operational stability for normal operation.
4. Performance Calibration: Compliant with International Standards
- Load-bearing Test: Simulate aircraft tire crush load to verify the structural strength of the lamp.
- Optical Calibration: Use professional equipment to calibrate the light angle and intensity to ensure compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards, providing accurate guidance for pilots.
5. Safety Warnings
- No Disassembly: Disassembly of the lamp is strictly prohibited for non-professionals to avoid damaging the seals or causing electric shock. Maintenance must be performed by certified technicians.

This installation case by Saudi Jetta is a successful “real-world test” of the quality of the YFFY embedded helipad lights.
It is not only a lighting device, but also a flight safety assurance system integrating materials science, optical design, precision manufacturing, and reliability.
From its robust outer shell designed to withstand harsh weather conditions to its stable and durable light source, and its precise installation requirements, every detail reflects a deep respect for flight safety.
We believe that, with its superior product capabilities and comprehensive service support, this airport light will become a trusted “safety guardian” for more and more aprons around the world.
