Airfield wind cones, also known as a wind tube, windsock or wind direction indicator, is a conical textile tube that is often used as a basic indicator of wind speed and direction. When the wind speed reaches about 3.5 miles per hour (about 3 knots), the wind cone will begin to face the windward direction.
It is mainly used to provide helicopter pilots with visual ground wind direction and wind speed information in the final approach and takeoff area. It complies with FAA, AC150/5345-27C, L-806 and ICAO regulations.
Features of Airfield Windsock
- The wind cones is made of PVC rainproof material, which is corrosion-resistant and high-temperature resistant.
- The wind vane lighting uses high-power LED floodlights, which have the advantages of long service life, power saving, and high light intensity, which can reduce future maintenance costs.
- The overall structure is made of SU304 stainless steel, which is corrosion-resistant and light.
- It can be laid down to reduce maintenance time.
- The top uses a long-life low-intensity LED aviation obstruction light or a solar aviation obstruction light to maximize the service life of the entire wind cone.

Precautions For Use
- Don’t use non-standard power supply voltage, otherwise the equipment will be damaged.
- The windsock must be installed in a horizontal position, which can be measured with a level.
- The wind cone used for outdoor use is a consumable accessory, so please don’t check and maintain it regularly.
- Don’t open the equipment when not in use to avoid damage caused by internal high voltage.
- After installation, personnel must check whether the screws are tightened.
- Non-professionals are not allowed to repair the equipment to avoid expanding errors and causing damage.
